I’m sorry this is coming to you a little later on Sunday (nearly Monday really) but I have been out all weekend having a great time with family and friends, and lots of adventures that remind me I have so much to be grateful for in my life. Here it is, my Nourished Life Gratitude List 2014 – Week Forty-Three:
Monday: I was sweating through a plyometrics workout (think lots of burpees, step-ups and skipping) when Chris walked through the door holding a bunch of flowers (carnations, and lilies ‘because they last really long for you’) and a bar of my favourite chocolate. I am so grateful for this man and the surprise romantic gestures that make our love like the pop of a bottle of champagne.
Tuesday: Tonight I was grateful for a great run after I got home from work. I find it hard to sit down all day and when I manage to escape into my own world of pavement, grass, water and moody skies I find my happy place inside. When I got home I experimented with some fancy breakfast for dinner, and then crawled into bed to read.
Wednesday: Tonight Chris and I had an unexpected night in, so I made use of the time to do some baking, including some chocolate cookies to bring with us to his parent’s place on Friday night. I was grateful for the unexpected time at home – sometimes that kind of surprise is just what you need midweek.
Thursday: My Mormor (grandmother) made dinner for Chris and I tonight. I was grateful to sit at her table, eating pumpkin soup, and talking about old times and new adventures. I am grateful for my grandmother, she is a strong and independent woman with a wicked sense of humour and great taste in jewellery, and she loves all of us fiercely.
Friday: After work tonight Chris and I drove up to Toowoomba to visit his family for dinner. I was grateful to see Ruth, Jim, Rosie, Jordan, and Robyn gathered around the table. Chris and I had brought some of Nanny’s photos with us; we sorted through the boxes of sepia and black and white photos of family and Ruth and Robyn told us stories of each of the faces they remembered. Some of the photos were over a hundred years old; seeing these glimpses of the past was a fascinating way to spend the evening.
Saturday: Chris and I headed out for another round of furniture shopping. We survived argument free! There may have been a slight moment of feminist outrage but other than that we survived! Also more exciting than that – our house has WALLS!!! I am so grateful that we found a home that suited our needs and were in the position to buy it. I am so excited to move in and have our own little home. Looks like we are on track to move in early/mid 2015.
Sunday: This morning I went for a big walk along the bay, and then headed over to Mum and Dad’s for a linen party. I was grateful to catch up with Mum and Jess as well as some friends we haven’t seen for a while. I may also have bought one or two things for the new house – I have to start planning!
Also this week:
